I booked the bands, the stage and the PA system, write ad copy, put posters up, then stage-manage and host the event onstage. I also played a few times in the bands.

2006 – to 2010 - weekly TWICKENHAM SUNDAY JAM

I started a musicians’ Sunday jam session at the Hob Goblin pub in Twickenham in May 2006 and ran and hosted it with my friend Ray for 4 years every single Sunday evening. He still runs it, very successfully. This has encouraged many musicians in the area, young and old and many hot up and coming young players got their first chance in front of an audience through us.

2007 - THE MAYOR OF RICHMOND CONCERTS

The Mayor Marc Cranfield-Adams put on three open-air concerts at the rear of York House and kindly asked me to compere them which I did, and I also ran an auction for prizes etc on the last night.

CHURCH STREET WINTER FASHION SHOW

I brought down my own PA system and set it up and hosted this event.

2008 - CHURCH STREET SUMMER FASHION SHOW

Made up music CDs to suit the show, brought my own PA system and hosted the event , which as above, was to promote the shops in the street that sold clothing

‘MISS TWICKENHAM’ pageant, CHURCH STREET

Hosted this fun / ironic event on stage, which was part of the August Bank Holiday fair.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PARTY

Created the ‘Chamber Chillout’- the Chamber’s successful summer party by the river in Richmond. I came up with the name and concept, designed the invitations and again played for free while paying my fellow musicians myself.

Also designed a new promo postcard for the Chamber and paid my artwork guy to make it ready for print.

CHARITY EVENT ON BEHALF OF SOUTH AFRICAN CHARITY

Peter Desmond, whom I met through the Chamber of Commerce, is trustee of a charity his daughter works at in South Africa, The African Pulse, which helps people suffering from HIV. He wanted to have a charity concert for it and joked about getting the ‘Bhundu Boys’, a famous African 80s band to play at it.

I booked the venue, designed the marketing, and hosted and promoted the event. It was packed out and a huge success – and through my contacts the main act was the only surviving Bhundu Boy! Rise Kagona With his band plus Champoin Doug Veitch This was all done for no fee of course and the charity benefited by £1800 as well as a raised profile to local people.

CHURCH STREET AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY FAIR

Was a Main Event Sponsor (even though I’m not in Church Street! I love the street anyway) I played for free, paid my band, provided my own PA equipment, and booked and organised the other 3 bands.

RADNOR GARDENS – MAYOR’S FUN DAY

The Mayor, Clare Head, asked me to bring my band to play at her event in the Park and I gladly agreed, being a Main Event Sponsor, playing for free myself again as usual.

I am a former Chairman of a branch of BNI – 30 local business people in a supportive network. I was a member for 3 years, breakfasting there every single week and supporting new ventures in the borough.
